Bears’ Justin Fields named NFC Offensive Player of the Week
With a historical performance from Justin Fields on Sunday, the second-season signal-caller was named Offensive player of the Week
After a stellar, record-breaking performance against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, the NFL named Justin Fields the NFC offensive player of the week.
Fields, who threw for 123 yards and three passing touchdowns in the Week 9 matchup, broke Michael Vick’s NFL single-game quarterback rushing yards record, running for 178 yards.
The second-year quarterback also broke the franchise record for the longest quarterback run and the longest quarterback touchdown runs, tacking on a 61-yard touchdown.
Fields became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for three or more touchdowns and rush for over 140 yards in a single game. The second-year quarterback was sacked only twice, and didn’t turn the ball over.
While the Chicago Bears lost 35-32 to the Dolphins, Fields has led the offense to average 31.3 points per contest over the last three weeks.
Joe Mixon AFC Player of the Week
On the other hand, Bengals HB Joe Mixon was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Cincinnati’s 42-21 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Mixon rushed for 153 yards on 22 attempts (7.0 average) with four TDs, while also catching four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown.
