With Week 2 of the NFL right on top of us, here’s the latest on the injury front ahead of the huge clash between the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans, to be played at the 72,220 capacity NRG Stadium.

The side from the Lone Star State got off to a solid start in their season opener against the Colts, narrowing edging out a 27-29 victory, with a 0-6 second quarter the only one-sided section of what was an incredibly tight game.

It was also a night to remember for promising young quarterback C. J. Stroud, who performed well against a tough opponent who could well have taken the win against the Texans.

As for the injuries, Case Keenum remains out with a foot injury, along with Dalton Keene, who has been ruled out with a knee issue. The only questionable player on the list for the Texans is running back Dameon Pierce, whose hamstring problem has partly cleared up.

The Bears have worries of their own, with four players on the list ahead of the second week clash. Ian Wheeler’s knee injury has him completely ruled out for the upcoming tie, as is Khari Blasingame, whose hand injury is still causing him problems from the recovery room.

The more positive news is that wide receiver Keenan Allen is now questionable with his heel injury and Rome Odunze’s knee issue means his participation is neither confirmed nor ruled out.

The Bears’ first game went fairly smoothly in the end, with a solid defence allowing them to beat the Tennessee Titans at Soldier Field last week. The final score of 24-17 perhaps does not do well to shows the flow of the game, which was topsy-turvy, but with the win a playoff place is firmly in the Bears’ sights.

It wasn’t all good news, however as Caleb Williams’ debut was not one to remember: the No. 1 overall pick finished 14 of 29 for 93 yards with a 55.7 passer rating, and called the game “frustrating”.

“But the most important thing is that it shows a bunch of the personality of this team, I would say — the fight, the resiliency that we had”, Williams concluded.
