Broncos - Chiefs NFL Thursday Night Football injury report: Will Travis Kelce play?

We have an AFC West battle to start Week 6 of the NFL season, as the Kansas City Chiefs return home on a four game win streak, set to host the Denver Broncos.

DAVID BERDINGAFP

The Denver Broncos have had a nightmare start to the season, and now will go up against one of the top teams in the league. It’s never easy in Aarowhead, but they could be dealing with some injuries on the defensive side of the ball that will make containing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs high powered offense even tougher.

The Chiefs injury report is highlighted by Travis Kelce, but there are some other key guys on both sides of the ball that will be looking to get back to full strength before kickoff on this shortened week.

Kansas City Chiefs

Kadarius Toney WR, (toe):

KC’s WR should be a go on Thursday after fully participating in practice since the beginning of the week.

Travis Kelce TE, (ankle): QUESTIONABLE

Kelce went down with a non contact injury that is being categorized as a low ankle sprain. He missed the final minutes of the first half against the Vikings, but came back and scored a TD in the second half. He didn’t practice on Monday, but participated in limited practice Tuesday and Wednesday.

Matt Dickerson DT, (knee):

Dickerson’s knee is getting better as the days go on. He was in practice Monday, but didn’t fully participate. He came back to full practice Tuesday and Wednesday.

George Karlaftis DE, (hamstring): QUESTIONABLE

Karlaftis is dealing with a hamstring injury that limited him in practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Michael Danna DE, (ribs):

Danna had a big game against the Vikings last week, and should be back on the D line for Thursday night after fully participating in practice all week.

L’Jarius Sneed CB, (knee):

Sneed took a knock to the knee in Sunday’s game against the Vikings, but was a full participant in practice this week.

Nick Bolton LE, (ankle):

Bolton’s ankle is still not at full strength, and the Chiefs held him to a limited capacity at practice on Monday and Tuesday. He did get a full practice on Wednesday and will most likely be a game time decision.

Trent McDuffie CB, (quad):

McDuffie’s quad should be ready to go on Thursday night after practicing normal over the last few days.

Drue Tranquill LB, (knee):

The Chiefs should have their linebacker ready to take on the Broncos. He has been a full participant in practice this week, and we should expect to see him looking to make life difficult for Russell Wilson and Denver.

Denver Broncos

Javonte Williams RB, (quad) WILL PLAY

The Broncos RB is trending toward playing after participating fully in practice on Tuesday and on Wednesday.

Justin Simmons FS, (hip): WILL PLAY

The secondary man suffered a hip injury on Sunday and has been limited in practice this week, but came back on Wednesday for a full day of practice.

Justin Strnad ILB, (back):

Strand was fine going into Monday’s practice, but a back injury suffered on Monday held him to limited practice on Tuesday. He bounced back on Wednesday and should be available for Thursday night.

Lloyd Cushenberry III C, (quad):

Devner’s starting took part in practice this week but at a limited capacity, but practiced in full on Wednesday.

Baron Browning LB, (knee): OUT

The Broncos linebacker will be kept on the PUP list for another week, and will miss the game against the Chiefs.

Frank Clark OLB (illness): OUT

Clark fell ill after being a full participant in practice on Monday. He has been ruled out after missing practice on Wednesday.

D.J. Jones DT, (knee): OUT

Jones didn’t practice all week, and has been ruled out of the primetime game against the Chiefs.

Mike Purcell NT, (ribs)

The anchor of the D Line has been battling an injury to his ribs and has taken part in light practice both Monday and Tuesday….

Greg Dulcich TE, (hamstring): QUESTIONABLE

Dulcich has been on injured reserve since the start of the season. He returned to practice on Tuesday, but was limited in team activities.
