Broncos vs Saints betting trends: odds, point spread and over/under prediction | NFL Week 7
Two rookie QBs will square off on Thursday Night Football as the New Orleans Saints try to snap a four game losing streak against the Denver Broncos.
The Week 7 slate of games is jam packed with can’t miss matchups, unfortunately the Thursday Night game isn’t one of them. We know that you’ll still be tuning in, because that’s what we do on Thursdays during football season. Here’s a little information that might spice up the night and spice up the game between the Denver Broncos and the New Orleans Saints.
Broncos vs Saints preview
The Broncos had their three game win streak snapped on Sunday against the Chargers, but things are turning around in Denver in large part because of their defense. In their three wins the defense gave up just over 11 points a game, which puts their offense led by rookie QB Bo Nix in a position to win each and every week. Nix may not be having a Rookie of the Year campaign, but he is doing a pretty good job managing games considering he doesn’t have much of a run game. Broncos fans would have signed on the dotted line if offered a 3-3 record at the beginning of the season. They will try to climb above .500 in New Orleans against a Saints team that has lost four in a row.
There was a time very early in the season where we were talking about the Saints being Super Bowl contenders after dropping 91 points in the first two games of the season. The wheels have fallen off since then. Three tough games against the Eagles, Falcons and Chiefs sent them spiraling and to add injury to insult, quarterback Derek Carr suffered an oblique injury in the Chiefs game which kept him out of the game against the Bucs this past Sunday. With no Carr in at QB, the Saints held on for a couple quarters, but the Bucs blitzed them with 51 points as New Orleans was held scoreless in the second half.
These are two teams that have been around the league for a long, long time but they have only met 12 times. The Broncos have a commanding lead over the Saints dating back to their first match up back in 1970. They won their first four games against the Saints and have a 9-3 historical lead but the Saints had the last laugh in their last match up back in 2020 when they thumped Denver 31-3 in Mile High Stadium.
Odds, Over/Under and prediction
Heading into the Thursday night primetime match up, the Broncos are a 2.5 point road favorite against the Saints who may be without their QB1 and their top WR Chris Olave. Not many points are expected between these two teams led by rookie quarterbacks. The Over/Under is set at 37 points.
Prediction
The Saints losing streak has to come to an end at some point, but it’s not going to end this week. Spencer Rattler didn’t look terrible in his debut, throwing for 243 yards and a TD, but he also threw a couple picks and the Denver defense will be looking to tee off on the rookie. I don’t expect a lot of points in this game, but I think the Broncos score enough to cover the spread.
Broncos win 17-10.
