Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy arrested for ‘tampering’ in domestic violence case
With the details surrounding his arrest now public, things don’t look good for the Broncos star. What then does that mean for his future with the team?
The Bronco’s wide out has found himself on the wrong side of the law leaving the question, of whether or not he will return and what the team will do about it?
Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy arrested for domestic violence
It’s been a short lived off-season for the Broncos’ star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy as he has now been sidelined for reasons which quite frankly are unacceptable. Indeed, just as he was beginning to train with new quarterback and former Super Bowl winner Russell Wilson, the pass catcher seemingly did something he shouldn’t have. According to multiple reports on Thursday, the one time first-round draft pick was arrested in Colorado on charges of second-degree criminal tampering in relation to a domestic violence case.
It is now understood that Jeudy is currently being held in the Arapahoe County jail. As per reports the 23-year-old was booked by sheriff deputies somewhere between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. MT. Reports also indicate that Jeudy is being detained without bond, which means that he will not be leaving police custody until a judge can issue a restraining order related to his case. With that said a hearing will likely occur sometime within the next 24 hours.
What exactly did Jerry Jeudy do?
Where the specifics of his second-degree criminal tampering charge are concerned, it would seem that Jeudy manipulated someone’s private property “with intent to cause injury, inconvenience or annoyance,” It is understood that the misdemeanor offence also carries a “domestic violence enhancer.” For their part the Broncos released a brief statement acknowledging the turn of events saying, “We are aware of the matter involving Jerry Jeudy, and are in the process of gathering more information,” they said.
Who is Jerry Jeudy the wide receiver?
A former star from the famous Alabama ‘Crimson Tide’ production line, Jeudy was actually drafted 15th overall in 2020. During this off-season the WR was actually one of the model examples of player discipline and dedication as he participated in the team’s voluntary workouts and mini-camp to build a relationship with Wilson. He figured to enter 2022 as the QB’s. The unfortunate truth is that Jeudy was tipped to be Wilson’s main target this season. To date should this situation take a turn for the worst, the Broncos will likely lose a player who posted 90 catches across 1,323 yards in two NFL seasons. Suffice to say there will be more developments in this case, which will likely result in the Broncos having to make some tough choices where their young start in concerned.
