Update:

Considering ‘Cameron Dicker’ rhymes with ‘kicker,’ you could argue the Los Angeles Chargers star’s position was picked for him before he ever set his hands, or feet, on a football. The 24-year-old could have a decisive role to play as the Californians take on the Houston Texans in Saturday’s NFL playoff Wild Card game.

Dicker, the first NFL player to be born in Hong Kong, has had a habit of making an impact since making his debut in the league for the Philadelphia Eagles over two years ago.

Dicker’s instant NFL impact

As a member of Philly’s practice squad, he made two field goals on his first NFL appearance against the Arizona Cardinals, the second of which was a game-winning 23-yard kick with two minutes to play.

Despite that, he was released by the Eagles weeks later but was quickly snapped up by the Chargers, again starting with their practice squad. Three days after joining, he again showed he possessed the magic touch by kicking another two field goals and another last-gasp game-winning kick from 37 yards against the Atlanta Falcons.

That made Dicker the first rookie to win the Special Teams Player of the Week Award for two different teams.

How much does Cameron Dicker earn with the Chargers?

The former Texas Longhorn star, who made the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2022, has been the Chargers kickers since 2023, with his performances since then earning him a four-year contract extension worth $22.004 million, which he signed in August 2024. That means he is under contract in Los Angeles until the end of the 2027 season, with an average salary of $5.501 million per year.

According to Spotrac, Dicker will earn a base salary of $1.25 million in 2025, along with a signing bonus of $3.5 million. He will carry a cap hit of $2.725 million and a dead cap value of $7.15 million.

Dicker goes into the Wild Card game against the Texans in a rich vein of form. On December 19, he made the first successful fair catch kick in the NFL since 1976. At 57 yards, it was also the longest in the league’s history.

Additionally, he was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in both Week 17 and 18, when he kicked eight out of nine field goals and made six extra points across the two games.
