Carolina Panthers fires staff member for post about Charlie Kirk’s murder

Following the murder of activist Charlie Kirk, a Carolina staff member was fired after posting insensitive messages on social media.

The Carolina Panthers condemned the violence and announced that Charlie Rock has been dismissed from the team’s Communications Department after he posted insensitive messages on social media regarding the murder of far-right political activist Charlie Kirk.

“The opinions expressed by our employees are their own and do not represent those of the Carolina Panthers. We do not condone violence of any kind. We are taking this matter very seriously and have accordingly addressed with the individual,” the team wrote on its account on X.

Rock posted an Instagram story with a message widely criticized as insensitive, writing: Why are you sad, if the man said it was worth it.”

Charlie Kirk, an influencer and far-right political activist known as a key ally of U.S. President Donald Trump, was killed after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University.

Kirk was struck in the neck around 12:10 p.m. local time during a student question-and-answer session. According to initial reports, the shooter fired from approximately 200 meters away.
