Chicago Bears’ Soldier Field was robbed of $100K worth of equipment. What do we know?

While details continue to emerge, what is clear is that a significant amount of equipment was taken from the team’s stadium. Needless to say, that’s not OK.

Aside from the team’s less-than-ideal start to the campaign which - it has to be said - comes after finishing the 2022-23 season as the worst team in the NFL, the franchise has now got a burglary to contest with.

Chicago Bears see Soldier Field robbed

If you’re a Chicago Bears fan and you think the team might be cursed, we can forgive you. Sitting on a 0-2 record as they prepare to take on the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, the Bears are facing a host of issues both on and off the field. If the team’s record wasn’t concerning enough, there is also the main reason for the record itself which is not bad luck, but a struggling offense that’s led by third-year quarterback Justin Fields. Then, there is also the recent resignation of defensive coordinator Alan Williams. What’s the proverbial cherry on top? Reports now confirmed that Soldier Field has been relieved of a whole lot of equipment.

How much you ask? According to a report from ABC7 Chicago on Wednesday, Soldier Field management confirmed that an individual stole more than $100,000 worth of equipment from the facility. Among the things that were taken were a number of Gator utility vehicles and lawnmowers. It is understood that those responsible tore down a security fence in order to access and make off with the equipment.

The Chicago Bears are in a bad place

While there is some consolation in the fact that the Bears are on the road this weekend to take on Patrick Mahomes and Co., it likely won’t be a pleasant experience when they take to the field in Arrowhead Stadium, nor is it probable that it will be much better when the team returns home to face the Denver Broncos on Sunday, October 1st. Truth be told, the Bears are not playing well at the moment, and as one can imagine the focus has fallen squarely on the above-mentioned Fields and by extension offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Indeed, just earlier this week Fields seemed to indicate that some of his issues of late could be related to “coaching.” Yes, it’s true that the signal caller later retracted his statements as he admitted that he should face plenty of the blame as well, but the fact that he made them is telling.
