Update:

Official team social accounts are always trying to grab a bit of attention and appeal to their fans with some gentle joshing. However the latest social media activity from the Indianapolis Colts has landed them in hot water and resulted in a swift apology to Tyreek Hill.

On Wednesday the Colts released a video to accompany the release of their 2025 schedule. The video was a spoof of Minecraft and it used some very ‘controversial’ graphics to announce the team’s regular season opener against the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins clip included a cartoon dolphin, wearing Hill’s No. 10 jersey, being ‘pulled over’ by a coast guard. Given Hill’s own personal history, that attempted-joke did not go down well.

Last September Hill was involved in an incident with the Miami-Dade Police Department as he arrived at Hard Rock Stadium for a Dolphins game. The officers pulled him over and dragged him from the vehicle, before pressing him to the ground and handcuffing the star.

That incident sparked a debate about the extent of police powers in a traffic stop situation, and raised questions about whether Hill’s race had played a part in the aggressive response from officers. Soon after the incident Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus called for those involved to be fired.

Whatever the merits of the case, the traffic stop and subsequent controversy was clearly a very traumatic experience for Hill. The video received a flood of negative comments after being posted on the Colts’ social media channels and it was quickly taken down.

On Thursday, the team released a statement apologizing to Hill: “We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek."
