Cowboys GM Jones drops surprising update on Micah Parsons future

Estados Unidos Update:

Jerry Jones, owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, admitted he’s not sure whether linebacker Micah Parsons will take the field in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles – uncertainty fueled by a contract dispute and the player’s recent request to be traded.

“No, absolutely not,” Jones said when asked if he was sure about his appearance.

“A big part of it is his decision,” he added. “How would I know that? … No but I’m urgent.”

Parsons recently posted on social media that he had formally requested a trade, expressing frustration with the way the Cowboys have handled negotiations over a contract extension.

The linebacker has become a cornerstone of the Cowboys defense, earning first-team All-Pro honors twice. He’s racked up 112 quarterback hits and 52.5 sacks in 63 career games – numbers that underscore his value on the field.

Jones also said Tuesday that he hasn’t spoken to Parsons since the trade request and that no one in the front office has initiated talks with the player’s agent.

It’s worth noting that Parsons is entering the final year of his contract after the Cowboys exercised his fifth-year option, which would pay him around $24 million in 2025.
