Cowboys in huge scare as starting OT Guyton suffers injury: how long will he be out?
Offensive tackle Tyler Guyton was feared to have suffered a torn ACL during practice on Monday, but the injury is not as bad as first thought.
The Dallas Cowboys suffered a major scare during training camp on Monday, when offensive tackle Tyler Guyton went down with what was initially feared to be a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
However, tests showed that Guyton has avoided ligament damage and has instead sustained a bone fracture in his knee, the Cowboys say.
Will Guyton be back for Week 1?
The 24-year-old will be sidelined for one to two months, DallasCowboys.com’s Tommy Yarrish has revealed.
Yarrish notes that Guyton could still be fit for Dallas’s NFL season opener at the beginning of September, when ‘America’s Team’ visits the Philadelphia Eagles, the defending Super Bowl champions.
The news of Guyton’s knee fracture comes just 24 hours after Robert Jones, another key Dallas offensive lineman, suffered a back injury that is expected to keep him out for two to three months.
As Guyton recovers, the Cowboys appear likeliest to turn to Asim Richards as the starting left tackle. Other options include Hakeem Adeniji, Matt Waletzko and the recent Draft pick Ajani Cornelius.
When are the Cowboys’ preseason games?
Under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, the Cowboys play their first preseason game at the Los Angeles Rams on August 9, before hosting the Baltimore Ravens at AT&T Stadium seven days later. In Week 3 of preseason, Dallas welcomes the Atlanta Falcons to Texas on August 22.
When is the Cowboys vs the Eagles?
In Week 1 of the NFL season, the Cowboys take on the Eagles on September 4, with kick-off at Lincoln Financial Field scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET/5:20 p.m. PT.
The game in Pennsylvania will be aired by NBC, and you can stream the network’s coverage on the online platform fubo, which offers a free trial.
