Cowboys’ Jerry Jones responds to Antonio Brown ‘come and get me’ call
Despite the fact that AB had stated that he would not play in 2022, in a recent interview with TMZ he said he was interested in signing with the Dallas franchise.
The Dallas Cowboys will start with a depleted corps of wide receivers as a result of injuries to Michael Gallup and James Washington, which gave Antonio Brown an opportunity to be pulled into the conversation for reinforcements. The franchise, however, has stated via its owner, that it is not interested.
Antonio Brown not wanted by Dallas Cowboys
In an interview for TMZ Sports, Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, thanked AB for his interest, but he turned down the possibility of signing the former Steelers man. “We’re good,” Jones said, “but, we want to give these young guys a real chance to make this team.”
A few days ago Antonio Brown was questioned about a possible return to the league. In this regard, the Central Michigan graduate replied: “Tell Jerry Jones to call me.”
For now, and due to the Gallup and Washington losses, the Cowboys will enter the 2022 season with CeeDee Lamb, Noah Brown, Jalen Tolbert and Dalton Schultz as the main options in the passing game.
Antonio Brown remains undecided
Brown’s statements run in contrary to his previous comments on intentions to play in 2022. In May, during a Fan Controlled Football broadcast, AB declined to see activity next season. “Don’t be fooled by expecting me to play,” he said.
Nonetheless, Brown has been unclear in his opinion to date. His first position after being released by the Buccaneers was an attempt to sign with the Ravens and he said he wanted to share a locker room with Lamar Jackson. That said, Baltimore and coach John Harbaugh didn’t take the remarks seriously.
