Cowboys stars could feast after Bears’ crushing injury news
The Dallas Cowboys may have lucked as they prepare to face the Chicago Bears in Week 3, as the Bears are dealing with a serious injury to their secondary.

The Chicago Bears have had a rough start to the season, losing their first two games to the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. In Week 3, they’ll face the Dallas Cowboys, who’ve lost and won one game - both by close margins. And unfortunately, their bad luck continues as they are trying not to fall to 0-3.
Bears suffer major blow before Cowboys showdown
The Bears suffered a major setback heading into their Week 3 matchup with the Cowboys, as Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson is out indefinitely after re-aggravating a groin injury. Doctors are still evaluating whether surgery is needed.
Bears Pro-Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson is out indefinitely with a groin injury, sources tell me and @CourtneyRCronin. The team still is evaluating the full extent of the injury, whether surgery is necessary, and how long Johnson will be sidelined.

Johnson, Chicago’s top corner, already missed training camp, preseason, and Week 1 with the same issue. In six seasons, he’s been a defensive anchor with 71 starts, 49 pass breakups, and seven interceptions.
The timing is brutal for the Bears, who are preparing to face Cowboys’ star receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Johnson’s absence further weakens a defense that has already struggled badly, giving up 27 points to rookie J.J. McCarthy in Week 1 and 52 points to Jared Goff and the Lions in Week 2.
Safety Jaquan Brisker admitted he was shocked by the defense’s collapse, while head coach Ben Johnson pointed to a failure to pressure quarterbacks and stop explosive plays. To make matters worse, linebacker T.J. Edwards re-injured his hamstring after already missing the season opener.
Lamb and Pickens combined for 14 catches, 180 yards, and a touchdown in the Cowboys’ 40-37 OT win over the New York Giants in Week 2, and are now in position for bigger roles on Sunday.
George Pickens: “It’s definitely a relief (to get my first TD). I wanted to get in that box. It’s definitely for the team, because I know what type of guys we have. So with special plays like (yesterday), we can win a lot of games.”
