The Cowboys are making the final cuts to get their roster down to 53 and it was initially reported that tight end Peyton Hendershot was one of the first players to be cut on Tuesday.

Hendershot was competing for the TE3 position behind Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker.

Hendershot traded to the Chiefs

As it turns out, the Cowboys are actually trading Hendershot to the Kansas City Chiefs in return for a 2026 conditional seventh-round pick.

After two years with Dallas, Hendershot played in 25 games but started only three. His best season was in his rookie year, when he made 11 catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Last season, he had just four catches for 38 yards.

Now, he’ll be playing behind one of the best tight ends in the NFL, Travis Kelce, who turns 35 this year. Learning from Kelce may be just what 25-year-old Hendershot needs to take the next step in becoming a starter in the league.
