Dak Prescott weighs in on Micah Parsons’ Cowboys trade demand

The Dallas Cowboys need to resolve Micah Parsons’ situation quickly. The standout defensive player has requested a trade after failing to reach a deal on a contract extension. The four-year veteran is set to earn $24 million in 2025, but his market value is estimated at more than $38 million per season based on his performance.

What Prescott thinks of Parsons situ

Still, one of the Cowboys’ leaders believes the front office – led by owner Jerry Jones – will do everything possible to keep Parsons in Dallas. Dak Prescott said that having been in Parsons’ position during his own extension talks gives him a different perspective from most players.

“No, not necessarily. I think if I wouldn’t have been in his shoes, and watched other guys be in his shoes and get rewarded, maybe,” Prescott said of Parsons’ future with the team. “But I’ve got faith in the Joneses and the team as I do in Micah and his team. 11 is a Cowboy.

“It was just frustration that this is going on... keep handling things the way that you are, and I believe that he should be paid.”

Prescott speaks from experience – he signed his own extension just hours before the Cowboys kicked off the 2024 season after months of negotiations. The quarterback agreed to a four-year, $240 million deal on the same day Dallas faced the Cleveland Browns.

Why have talks between Parsons and the Cowboys stalled?

The impasse stems from the Cowboys’ reluctance to deal with Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta. The Penn State product asked Jones to speak with his representative, but the owner admitted this week that he hasn’t done so.

Parsons has been present at the Cowboys’ training camp but has not taken part in joint practices because of the contract dispute. He also missed the last session due to back tightness.
