Things were looking pretty good for Dak Prescott and co as the off-season took hold last campaign, but eyes are now on the new prize that’s ahead.

The start of 2022 NFL season is getting ever closer. We’re now less than a week away from the draft picks and fans of each team, most of them, at least, have that off season optimism that is just waiting to be ripped out of them in the most painful of ways. But let’s leave that for another day.

Are Cowboys set to play in London in 2022?

So to the scheduling then, and after the National Football League announced that details of the full 2022 regular season would be revealed on 12 May, Dallas Cowboys supporters started to ponder their weeks and months ahead, including the tasty Thanksgiving matchup that will be slotted in for primetime.

Dallas’ finest will be looking at their basic six games against their NFC East opponents, and then they will also go up against four teams from the NFC North and AFC South, as well as the other division winners, the Los Angeles Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dallas Cowboys: 2022 regular season opponents

  • At home: Eagles, Giants, Commanders, Bears, Lions, Buccaneers, Colts, Texans, Bengals
  • On the road: Eagles, Giants, Commanders, Packers, Vikings, Rams, Jaguars, Titans

The NFL’s new scheduling algorithm means that the 17th game for the Cowboys will see a warm Texan welcome for the visiting Cincinnati Bengals, winners of their division last season.

So what about the question of a potential trip to England’s capital? That comes about as the NFL continues its push to grow interest around Europe and further afield. Unlike, for example, the soccer World Cup or its European Champions League, gridiron has yet to conquer the globe, and regular season games in major cities is seen as one way to pull more international fans in.

As both the Green Bay Packers and the Jacksonville Jaguars are set to be in London for one of their ‘home’ games, and the Cowboys are away to each of them, it just may turn out to be a pretty long road trip if the stars and stripes align.

What a treat that would be for their fans across the pond.
