Dallas Cowboys officially eliminated from playoff contention
The Dallas Cowboys' playoff hopes were dangling by a thin thread, and it’s finally broken before they even kick off vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tonight.
The Dallas Cowboys were still clinging to hope for a Wild Card spot in the playoffs ahead of Week 16 after they beat the Carolina Panthers last week. But at 6-8 and 12th in the NFC, their hopes were pretty slim.
And now, they’re officially gone.
Cowboys eliminated from 2024 postseason in Week 16
Ahead of their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tonight, the Cowboys still had a very small chance of making the playoffs if they were to win. But with that small of a chance, they needed a lot more than a win.
They also needed the Washington Commanders to lose to the Philadelphia Eagles. Instead, the Commanders pulled off a last-second upset over Philly and officially eliminated the Cowboys from the playoffs.
With their hopes basically gone anyway, I have to admit I’m not sad to have seen Philly lose. Plus, it’s actually nice to just have this elimination out of the way already. On to next season now.
As for the game tonight, the Bucs do still have a good chance to make the postseason and a win would help them a long way. You can follow along with our live text coverage of the game, brought to you by yours truly, right here on AS USA.
