Dallas Cowboys 34-40 Jacksonville Jaguars, Prescott interception, summary: score, stats, highlights | NFL Week 15
Jaguars defeat Cowboys in OT
Cowboys blow 17-point lead, lose in OT to Jaguars
With five minutes left in the 3rd quarter, the Cowboys were up by 17 points over the Jaguars. The Jaguars were not giving up easily though. They overcame the deficit to tie the game, send it into overtime, and then win it. The worst part for the Cowboys is that the win came off of an interception thrown by their QB Dak Prescott.
The Cowboys looked like the dominant team nearly the entire game. In fact, it was the opposite of what they did last week against the Texans. Instead of playing horribly all game and getting it together at the last minute, they played really well, and then faltered and choked at the last minute instead. So...what happened?
First half, dominant Cowboys
Prescott has thrown five interceptions in the last three games. And yet, in the first half against Jacksonville, he was nearly perfect. He completed 15/16 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. RB Ezekiel Elliott got the first TD on a 10-yard rush, his seventh straight game to have a rushing TD. Prescott's second touchdown pass to WR Noah Brown came off a beautiful play in which he faked the handoff and then threw to Brown, who was wide open.
The Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence wasn't having a bad game either. He completed 9/15 passes and threw for 84 yards and a touchdown to WR Zay Jones. RB Travis Etienne was doing well, but had a costly fumble that was recovered by Dallas and resulted in the Elliott TD.
Second half, Jaguars catch up, and then take over
The second half, the Jaguars slowly crept up until they were dangerously close. They started off modestly, with a field goal by Riley Patterson, to which Dallas immediately responded with one of their own and then yet another after Lawrence threw an interception. At that point, Dallas was still up 27-10.
But then Etienne made an incredible 59-yard touchdown to make up for the earlier fumble. With the Cowboys back on offense, Prescott was sacked and then immediately after, threw an interception. The Jaguars got back the ball again and maximized on that chance with a 30-yard run by Jamal Agnew and then a 10-yard pass to Jones in the endzone. Suddenly it's a 3-point game with the Cowboys up 27-24.
To start off the 4th quarter, Jones got another touchdown to put the Jaguars in the lead for the first time all game. But the back-and-forth continued. The Cowboys were able to utilize Brown as he made an impressive catch and then another TD to take the lead back again for Dallas.
The Cowboys had an incredible opportunity after that, which they completely blew. Lawrence made a huge escape out of the pocket but then fumbled the ball only for the Cowboys to recover it. That would have been great for the Cowboys, except that at 3rd and 10, Prescott threw an incomplete pass. Jags got it back again with just a few minutes left to play.
After lots of back and forth, the Jaguars finally ended up within field goal range with just 5 seconds left on the clock. Patterson made the 48-yard try and sent the game into overtime.
Overtime, Prescott's mistake costs Dallas playoff berth
The Cowboys lost the toss, but the Jaguars got nowhere when they started out on offense. The Cowboys had a chance to take the ball back and win it, and clinch their spot in the playoffs. Instead, Prescott threw an interception into the arms of Jaguars defender Rayshawn Jenkins. Jenkins took it alllllll the way back 51 yards into the endzone for a touchdown to end the Cowboys' playoff-clinching hopes.

No more World Cup
Sad the World Cup is over or not a Messi/Argentina fan? Don't fret. The Cowboys and Jags start in just a moment... :)
If the Cowboys win, they can clinch a playoff berth
A loss would mean they need either to Lions to lose or tie or the Commanders to lose.
Dallas' turnovers
The Cowboys need to work on their turnover problem. Since QB Dak Prescott returned, they have had at least one turnover in every game but one. Needless to say, they are costly mistakes.
The Jaguars have forced at least one turnover in five of their last six games. Otherwise, the Jacksonville defense is not that great - they rank 16th in run defense DVOA and 30th in pass defense DVOA. If the Cowboys allow them turnovers, though, it could cost them a win.
Cowboys/Jaguars Injury Report
For the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence will start despite being listed as Questionable for the second week in a row with a toe injury. Rookie Travon Walker will miss his first career game after suffering from an ankle injury last week.
For the Cowboys, they'll be missing T.Y. Hilton, who the Cowboys brought on last week. It's a bit surprising as there were reports that he impressed quite a lot in practice, but it looks like we'll have to wait for Christmas Eve for his debut.
Speaking of Trevor Lawrence...
The Cowboys pass rush was nowhere to be found last week against the Texans. Lawrence has been making quick reads and escaping the pocket lately, so the Dallas D will have to do better than that.
The Jaguars offensive coordinator, Press Taylor, also has been known to exploit his opponents' weak points. The Cowboys have started to stop the run, but are struggling to stop the pass. Trevon Diggs is solid, but Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright...less so. If the Jags offense tries to take advantage of that, the Cowboys could be in trouble.
Pederson on Trevor Lawrence
Trevor Lawrence has thrown 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions over the last five games.
Cowboys vs Jaguars: Preview
Jacksonville Jaguars: 5-8
The Jaguars are at 5-8 and getting their act together a little bit. They lost five straight games, but then went on to win three of the next five. They are just two games behind the Tennessee Titans in the AFC South, who they beat 36-22 last week.
Dallas Cowboys: 10-3
Like the Jaguars, the 10-3 Cowboys are also two games behind their division's leaders in the NFC East, the Philadelphia Eagles. All that sounds good on paper, but last week, the Cowboys barely pulled off a win against the Houston Texans, the worst team in the league. If they want to stay in the playoff talks, they need to start playing well before the 4th quarter.
The last time the Cowboys and Jaguars met
This is just the second time the Cowboys will play the Jaguars in Jacksonville, having played an "away" game against them the last time in London in 2014. The Cowboys beat the Jaguars in their last two meetings. The last time the Jaguars won was in 2010.
