Dallas Police Issue Arrest Warrant for Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver faces eight charges for the car accident he was involved in in late March.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice will have to face charges stemming from the six-vehicle collision that he caused in Dallas at the end of March because, according to local news outlet WFAA, an arrest warrant has been issued for him.
Rice has one day to surrender to the authorities. The Dallas Police Department allows defendants the opportunity to report to precincts before they resort to sending officers out to bring them in.
Dallas police said the Chiefs wide receiver was driving a Lamborghini while another driver, Theodore Knox, was driving a Corvette on the North Central Expressway. Both vehicles lost control and collided with four other vehicles.
The charges against Rice are aggravated assault, causing a collision with serious bodily injury and six counts of causing a collision with injury. Knox, a Southern Methodist University football player, was indicted on the same charges.
The 23-year-old athlete stated that he would cooperate with authorities and accept full responsibility for leaving the scene of the accident. Royce West, Rice’s attorney, confirmed last week that the wide receiver was driving the Lamborghini, under a financial lease, and that the Corvette was rented in his name.
During his first season in the NFL, Rice caught 79 passes thrown his way for 938 yards and seven touchdowns. During Super Bowl LVIII, he recorded six receptions for 39 yards.
What did the police find in Rice’s cars?
The police report of the accident indicates that authorities found marijuana, credit cards, a check worth $16,500, a diamond chain and the Kansas City Chiefs playbook inside the cars.
