Dante Fowler makes return to Dallas, agrees to deal with Cowboys
Edge rusher Dante Fowler has agreed to a deal with the Dallas Cowboys after the Washington Commanders let him walk in free agency.

The Washington Commanders did not extend defensive end Dante Fowler (much to his dismay), despite having his second-most productive season in 2024. Instead, he’ll be making a return to Dallas to play for the Cowboys.

Dante returns to the Big D
In 2024, the Commanders signed Fowler to a one-year deal and he ended the season with 10.5 sacks and 14 tackles for a loss. Despite his successful season, the Commanders let him walk in free agency.
Now, Fowler has agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal with the Cowboys. It marks Fowler’s second stint in Dallas after he played for the Cowboys in 2022 and 2023. In his first season, he appeared in all 17 games and had 20 tackles (three for a loss), six sacks, and 29 quarterback pressures. In his second season, he played in all 17 games again, recording 13 tackles (five for a loss), four sacks, and seven quarterback pressures.
Fowler will replace defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who left the team after 11 seasons and signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
