Did the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes make more effort to pass to Travis Kelce with Taylor Swift watching?

On Sunday the Chiefs destroyed the Bears and there was a certain Grammy-winning pop star in attendance. Indeed, it appears her effect on the game was felt.

With rumors continuing to swirl around the possibility of a relationship between the multi-Grammy-winning artist and the Chiefs’ tight end, it’s reasonable to believe they will only intensify after the star quarterback’s admission.

Patrick Mahomes has Travis Kelce’s back

So, as you know Taylor Swift was at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Chicago Bears in what turned out to be a 41-10 Week 3 drubbing for the latter. Of course, the game was likely secondary for many pop fans when compared with the fact that Swift could be seen sitting next to the mother of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Donna. As speculation about what’s going on between Kelce and Swift continues to intensify, her presence at the game only serves to further fan the flames. Even more so when you consider her fired-up response to the man himself scoring a touchdown during the game.

Funnier still, however, were the post-game comments from the man who provided Kelce with the pass that he converted, quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Asked if he felt any added pressure from ‘Swifties’ - the collective name of Swift’s fans - Mahomes provided a cheeky response that will likely secure him some credit with the 13-time Grammy winner. “Yeah, I heard she was in the house. I felt a little bit of pressure. So I knew I had to get it to Trav,” said Mahomes. “I think he wanted to get in the end zone just as much as all the ‘Swifties’ wanted him to.”

Jokes aside, Travis Kelce delivered

Regardless of the rhetoric surrounding Kelce and Swift who was making her first visit as a spectator to Arrowhead, the reality is that Kelce was in fact key in what was the Chiefs’ biggest win for the season so far, and one that takes the record to 2-1. On the night, Kelce recorded seven catches for 69 yards and a touchdown. The 33-year-old led the game in receptions and receiving yards, while his team posted in excess of 450 yards of total offense. This is to say, while it was a good night for the Chiefs, it really wasn’t for the Bears. At any rate, Chiefs fans will almost certainly be happy to see that their team performed so well despite the ‘little bit of pressure’ that their signal caller felt.
