SUPER BOWL LVIII

Why is Kadarius Toney not playing today in the Super Bowl against the 49ers?

Despite being taken off the Chiefs injury report this week, it was confirmed that the wide receiver will play no role in Super Bowl LVIII.

Now in his third season with the Kansas City Chiefs, question marks surrounded Toney’s participation in the Super Bowl final despite being taken off the team’s injury list earlier in the week.

It has now been confirmed that Kadarius Toney is on the Chiefs’ inactive list for the game.

Toney has not played for the Chiefs since Week 15 and created a stir during the AFC Championship game when he said he was “not hurt” during a expletive-filled Instagram Live video, despite the team saying he was out with a hip injury, as well as personal reasons.

The 25-year-old then bizarrely claimed that NY Giants (his former team) fans had tampered with the audio to suggest that he was directing his anger at the Chiefs.

“It made it like I was attacking the one I love the most,” Toney claimed by way of defence. “I never attacked the Chiefs. Never said anything about the Chiefs. Who I was referring to was the Giants fans, whoever people who might come at my live recording. I was referring to them, which I shouldn’t have.”

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said “we’ll see” when asked earlier in the week whether Toney would play in the Super Bowl final at the Allegiant Stadium, adding that he had “been practicing, we’ll just see whether he’s up or not.” It has now been confirmed that unfortunately he has not made the cut.
