Drake wins big after betting on Falcons’ draft pick Drake London
Bets, paydays and smiles aside, the Falcons are actually getting a very talented player who will only improve their team.
No stranger to the world of sports betting, the rapper was at it once again. Only this time it wasn’t a game, but rather a 2022 NFL Draft pick.
Drake wins big afte betting on Falcons NFL Draft pick
According to reports Drake won big money during the 2022 NFL Draft thanks to betting on another Drake. Indeed, the Grammy Award-winning artist placed a $100,000 bet on USC product Drake London to be the first wide receiver taken in the draft, and it now seems his correct decision led to a $335,000 payout when the Atlanta Falcons did in fact select London with the eighth overall pick on Draft night. “Drake betting on Drake just feels right,” the rapper wrote in an Instagram story.
How exactly did it all work out? It was back on February 14th when Drake apparently first placed the bet officially. With odds set at 3.35 to 1 on Thursday, there was definitely reason to celebrate when London was picked just two spots ahead of former Ohio State wide receiver Garret Wilson, who was selected by the New York Jets.
Who is Drake London?
When asked about the bet made by the famous rapper, London explained that he only learned about the bet on the morning of Draft day after receiving several text messages from a number of friends. “I thought that was pretty cool, pretty funny, but it’s really none of my business,” London said. While his attitude may be humble, the former Trojan’s stats are certainly fitting of someone who could justify being cocky.
While he only played in eight games last season after fracturing his ankle in late October, Drake’s numbers were still definitely impressive. With 88 passes caught for 1,084 yards in total and seven touchdowns, his college career could definitely be considered a success. There were some doubts expressed as he was unable to participate in the NFL’s Combine due to the fact that he was still recovering from his injury, but it’s clear the Falcons were not bothered by any of that. The 6′4′ wide receiver who also played for the USC basketball team in his freshman season - clearly where his vertical leap and versatility come from - made clear earlier this month that he is coming to the end of his rehab and is ready to bring his abilities to the NFL.
