The Philadelphia Eagles began their NFL preseason with a win at Lincoln Financial Field, defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 34-27 in a game brimming with drama and high-octane offensive drives.
As is typical in preseason, both teams rotated through players eager to earn a spot on the starting roster – including rookies fresh from the Draft – while also giving starters some early snaps to build rhythm ahead of the regular season.
The Bengals struck first, with Tanner Hudson finding the end zone on a 12-yard pass from Joe Burrow. But the reigning Super Bowl LIX champions hit back immediately, as young quarterback Tanner McKee scored on a one-yard run. Ja’Marr Chase then hauled in Cincinnati’s second touchdown to briefly restore their lead.
By the second quarter, momentum had shifted firmly toward the Eagles. McKee orchestrated two lethal scoring drives, connecting with Ainias Smith and Darius Cooper for touchdowns, and Jake Elliott added a 44-yard field goal to extend the advantage.
Elliott struck again in the third quarter with a 23-yarder, before Bengals kicker Evan McPherson responded with a 36-yard effort to keep Cincinnati within reach.
In the final quarter, running back ShunDerrick Powell powered into the end zone for the Eagles’ fourth touchdown. The Bengals tried to mount a late rally, but time ran out – leaving them with only a 51-yard McPherson field goal and a late Hudson touchdown from a drive led by quarterback Desmond Ridder.
