As they prepare for their ‘Thursday Night Football’ clash, all eyes will be on the injury report and most importantly whether the Texans’ sensational wideout will play against the undefeated Eagles. Let’s get into it.

Confirmed: Brandin Cooks won’t play against Eagles

According to several reports, star receiver, Brandin Cooks will not be on the field for the Houston Texans when they face the Philadelphia Eagles in a primetime matchup on Thursday night. It’s worth mentioning, that the news follows a rather cryptic tweet from Cooks about his current situation with the team, after they failed to find an exit for him before the trade deadline arrived. It goes without saying that Cooks is one of the best players the Texans offense has, although one could argue that’s not an accomplishment given their recent shortcomings. That being said, the guy is legit and to be honest the main reason he didn’t get his move is because the guaranteed money he’s owed next season made him too expensive an option for most teams. Rumor has it that the Cowboys made an offer, but the Texans weren’t willing to absorb any of that aforementioned money, so the deal died in the water.

Regarding Cooks status up to this moment, the WR was a non-participant during the Texans’ practice sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. With that, the Texans coaching staff aired on the side of caution and here we are. What that means, is that the second worst team in the NFL at present will face the best, minus one their most talented players. Needless to say, this could get very ugly for the Texans.

What does Brandin Cooks’ future look like?

To be clear, it’s not clear what happens from here. Though one could be tempted to look at the current situation as Cooks holding out, the reality is he didn’t practice this week for what were officially called “personal” reasons. Yet, in the name of accuracy, it has to be said that the writing on the wall points to growing friction between the player and his team. It also doesn’t help that for the moment, the Texans have given no word as to what is going on between them and the veteran wide receiver. Ultimately, while Cooks’ future is understandably of great interest, the Texans have a more pressing problem right now and that’s the likely mauling they are about to receive from the Eagles.
