Eagles’s Lane Johnson undergoes surgery
Lane Johnson suffered an injury to his adductor in December and missed the Week 17 and 18 games but played in the whole of the playoffs.
The Philadelphia Eagles gave their best trying to win Super Bowl LVII - despite some of their star players being unavailable through injury, like right tackle Lane Johnson.
After the defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs in Glendale, Johnson has decided to listen to his body and put his health first. According to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Johnson has undergone surgery to repair the torn adductor muscle that he played with during the 2022 playoffs. The same report indicates that the recovery process will take between 10 to 12 weeks, so if all goes well, Johnson should be ready for training camp ahead of the 2023 NFL season.
Johnson suffered the injury back in December during the Eagles’ regular season defeat to Dallas 2022 and missed the games in Weeks 17 and 18. But in spite of that, he managed to play in all three playoff games. Last season, the lineman made it into the All-Pro first team for the first time in his career and also gained his fourth invitation to the Pro Bowl.
Johnson, 32, is a veteran with 10 years’ experience in NFL who has played in 127 games for the Eagles since he was drafted in the first round of the 2013 Draft.
Johnson hospital bed humor
The right tackle posted a photo on his Twitter account from a hospital bed and appears to be taking the procedure with humor. In the description of the tweet Johnson included a link to a scene from the film Happy Gilmore in which they wish the character played by Adam Sandler better luck next year.
