Five must watch NFL games on Sunday
NFL’s Week 15 is here and with that, the playoff picture is truly taking shape. There are a host of games to watch but which are the best? Let’s dive in.
While there are several talking points this week, it’s hard not to mention Tommy DeVito and the New York Giants. From seemingly out of nowhere, the backup QB has taken the league by storm with a number of standout performances over the last four games. Indeed, he won three of them. Yet, who else should we be keeping an eye on this week? Here are our five must-watch games in Week 15.
NFL Week 15: Top 5 games on Sunday
New York Giants (5-8) @ New Orleans Saints (6-7)
As mentioned before, Tommy DeVito can and has been playing some serious ball. On Monday night, he orchestrated a 24-22 comeback win over the Green Bay Packers that was one for the ages. The question now is whether he can continue to do so for a New York Giants team, that looked set to miss the playoffs just four games ago. Of course, the team that they will face in Week 15 will not go quietly into the night. Were it not for some serious inconsistency from quarterback Derek Carr, the New Orleans Saints would likely be safe and sound by now, however, that’s not to say they’re in a bad place. At present, the Saints could reasonably take a lead in the NFC South, or snatch the final wild-card spot. This is all to say that the stakes in this one couldn’t be any higher.
New York Jets (5-8) @ Miami Dolphins (9-4)
Not long ago, many were calling for quarterback Zach Wilson’s head. The second-year quarterback was struggling even before Aaron Rodgers joined the team and then promptly suffered a season-ending injury. Once again New York turned to Wilson and once again he struggled, resulting in a benching. Of course, as football fans know all too well, things can change very quickly in the NFL. Right here and now, Wilson is fresh off of the best half that he’s played in his career so far. With two touchdowns and 301 yards through the air, he was key in dismantling the Houston Texans 30-6 in the Jets’ last outing. Unfortunately, the problem is that the Jets are about to face one of the most potent offenses in the league in the form of the Miami Dolphins. What’s worse is that the Dolphins are coming off a disappointing game in which they let slip a 13-point lead in the final four minutes of their clash with the Titans. That’s to say, Tua Tagovailoa and his men are likely looking to right that wrong and Wilson and Co. may just have to pay for that.
Dallas Cowboys (10-3) @ Buffalo Bills (7-6)
This one must feel like a flashback to the early 90s. Not only are the Cowboys in first place which was a habit they had back then, but the Bills are trying to get the jump on the Dolphins, and to top it all off we’ve got a huge game between Dallas and Buffalo. While it’s safe to say Week 15′s clash isn’t on the level of the two Super Bowls that they played for two decades ago, something tells us that this one is going to be lit. Where the Bills are concerned, they are fresh off an impressive 20-17 win against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. As for the Cowboys, they are sitting atop the NFC East following a demolition of the team that lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Baltimore Ravens (10-3) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (8-5)
To say there is a lot riding on this one would be a massive understatement. Indeed, it’s not just about the two teams playing, it’s about the effect it could have on several others who vying for the top seed in the conference. At present the Ravens own it, but one can’t help but think that will change before the curtain comes down. If one word could be applied to the AFC this year, it’s got to be ‘unpredictable.’ Where the Jaguars are concerned, the team has just lost two consecutive games which is to say they will be desperate for the win. With quarterback Trevor Lawrence back in action, they’ve at least got a chance.
Philadelphia Eagles (10-3) @ Seattle Seahawks (6-7)
The Eagles started this season hot and after a few weeks, many thought they were on a fast track to at least another NFC championship game appearance. Now, on a two-game losing streak, we can’t say that’s impossible to imagine as their record is still impressive, but the notion has certainly taken a hit. What they must do now is take a long road trip to the northwest with a flagging defense to face a Seahawks team, that still has a shot at a postseason trip, not to mention a solid signal caller in the form of Geno Smith.
