Former Chicago Bears quarterback sentenced to jail time after DUI
The Chicago Bears have a long history of quarterback troubles. One of their former QBs was sentenced to jail after a DUI incident back in 2024.
Former Chicago Bears gunslinger Jay Cutler was sentenced to four days in jail after agreeing to a plea deal stemming from a DUI case from 2024.
Fine and DUI class on top of jail for Cutler
On top of the four days behind bars, the retired QB will be forced to pay a $350 fine and take a DUI safety class. His Tennessee license has been revoked and he has been placed under probation for the next year.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred in October of 2024 when he rear-ended another car. Once police arrived on the scene they found Cutler who was not only driving impaired, but also had a rifle and loaded pistol in the back of his truck.
He was charged for DUI along with possession of a gun while intoxicated and failure to exercise due care, although the gun charge was eventually dropped as part of the plea deal.
Cutler offered other driver cash
According to Tony Garcia of WSMV 4 Nashville who has been covering the story, Cutler was “visibly intoxicated and stated the he offered the other driver $2,000 to not call the police and to let him drive away.”
Cutler was one of the longest standing Bears quarterbacks in the history of the franchise. He was drafted by the Broncos with the 11th pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, but went to Chicago where he played for eight seasons and led the Bears to the 2010 NFC Championship.
The Bears have since had a seemingly never ending quarterback carrousel since Cutler left the Windy City in 2016. There have been 11 different starters under center in the last eight seasons for the Bears, but they might just have their face of the franchise and QB of the future with Caleb Williams.
