Geno Smith’s contract details: This is the Las Vegas Raiders’ QB’s salary

Update:

The Las Vegas Raiders endured a difficult 2024 season, falling to a record of 4-13 and forced to rotate between Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell and Desmond Ridder at quarterback.

This offseason they brought in Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks to strengthen that area but it wasn’t immediately clear whether he would be a starter. But in Week 1, Smith proved he deserved the QB1 position with an away win versus the Patriots 20-13.

The veteran QB was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2022 after enjoying a surprise renaissance for the Seahawks. He remained the starting quarterback for the following two season but was convinced to move to La Vegas, where he now signs on improved terms.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Smith’s new deal is a $75 million two-year contract with $66.5 million in guaranteed payments. That gives Geno Smith’s contract an average annual value of $37.5 million.

Who did the Raiders draft?

After three consecutive losing seasons the Raiders needed to find some talent and the 2025 draft.

Here are the 11 players selected by the Raiders:

  • Round 1 Pick 6: RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise State)
  • Round 2 Pick 58: WR Jack Bech (TCU)
  • Round 3 pick 68: CB Darien Porter (Iowa State)
  • Round 3 pick 98: OL Caleb Rogers (Texas Tech)
  • Round 3 pick 99: T Charles Grant (William & Mary)
  • Round 4 pick 108: WR Dont'e Thornton Jr. (Tennessee)
  • Round 4 pick 135: DT Tonka Hemingway (South Carolina)
  • Round 6 pick180: DT JJ Pegues (Ole Miss)
  • Round 6 pick 213: QB Tommy Mellott (Montana State)
  • Round 6 pick 215: QB Cam Miller (North Dakota State)
  • Round 7 pick 222: LB Cody Lindenberg (Minnesota)

Only time will tell how the new players develop and perform under Pete Carroll’s leadership and under the pressure of playing for one of the NFL’s most popular franchises.
