Football and beer. If I don’t have your attention yet, you might as well just close your laptop or turn off your phone right now. When you think about football players you think of elite athletes on strict diets and regimented workout schedules. That’s usually the case, but sometimes you just have to crack open a cold one and chug it.

“Damn you people, this is golf”

Over the weekend tons of NFL players, NBA players, TV personalities and celebrities of all walks of life gathered for the American Century Championship at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort. While fans showed up to watch these stars tee it up and test their game on the links, there was plenty of action happening off the course.

One of the top showmen of the weekend was San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle. Got into a “dust up” with WWE wrestler The Miz on one of the tee boxes and ended up drop kicking him to a loud roar of applause from the gallery.

He was also spotted on shotgunning beers on a couple different occasions. The first of the shotguns was with some fans as he walked from one hole to the next, and then he and a bunch of the other golfers and caddies cracked a round of beers open and slammed it before a Par 3 on the pristine Nevada course.

Compton crowned “the worst”

The American Century Championship is a celebrity tournament that brings in stars from around the world for a few days of lighthearted competition, with the atmosphere of the Waste Management Open. After the tournament Kittle caught up with Kay Adams on her Up and Adams podcast and asked the tight end who is the worst beer chugger in the NFL.

“Will Compton,” Kittle said of the former NFL player turned Bussin’ With the Boys podcast start. “No question. It’s not even close. It’s so funny because you have Taylor Lewan on one hand who can drink a 24 ounce pint in a second and a half, and Will Compton drinks 12 ounces of beer in 24 seconds… He is a former legend linebacker, but he is not legendary at beer drinking.”

Kittle is enjoying his last few days of the offseason before the Niners start training camp on the 22nd of July from Santa Clara, California. San Fran is looking to rebound from a 6-11 season with another deep playoff run led by Kittle and new big money quarterback Brock Purdy.
