George Kittle’s dream future after he finishes playing in the NFL
The San Francisco 49ers tight end has no clear future, but he'd like to pursue a career in WWE after leaving the NFL.
George Kittle is one of the NFL’s top tight ends, and retirement doesn’t appear to be on the horizon just yet, after he signed a four-year, $76.4 million contract extension last April. Still, the Iowa alum already has an idea of what he wants to do once his time with the 49ers comes to an end.
In an interview with Bussin’ With The Boys, Kittle shared that he’d love to be part of WWE after the NFL, saying he sees plenty of potential in that world. For now, he made it clear he’ll keep playing as long as putting on the pads is still fun.
“I haven’t dreamed about it, but I know there are opportunities and doors that could open. I’m excited about that,” the tight end said. “I’d love to be part of WWE. I think there’s a lot of potential there, and nothing would make me happier than being involved.””
Kittle emphasized that he wouldn’t take the opportunity just for the sake of it. He explained he’d want to train seriously before stepping into the ring so he wouldn’t look out of place. His love for wrestling is well known, and his Penta “Zero Miedo”-inspired touchdown celebrations are just one example.
“I’d only wrestle in WWE if I bought a ring and spent a long time killing myself in it—so I wouldn’t look like an idiot out there,” Kittle said. “I’ve been in a WWE ring maybe three times. I have no idea what I’m doing out there.”
George Kittle’s NFL stats
Kittle has worked relentlessly to become one of the NFL’s elite tight ends. He entered the league in 2018 as a fifth-round pick fighting for a roster spot. But under Kyle Shanahan’s offense, he broke out in his second season, recording 88 catches for 1,377 yards and five touchdowns.
Since then, Kittle has remained a vital part of the 49ers offense, regardless of who’s under center. He’s earned two First-Team All-Pro honors (2019 and 2023) and three Second-Team selections (2018, 2022, 2024). He also finished 11th in the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year voting.
Over his career, Kittle has racked up 7,380 receiving yards and 45 touchdowns, catching 538 of the 733 passes thrown his way across 98 regular-season games. He’s also been selected to the Pro Bowl six times.
