Good news for Ravens fans: Baltimore gives positive Lamar Jackson update ahead of Week 16
The 7-7 Baltimore Ravens are still fighting for their spot in the postseason, and having a healthy Lamar Jackson could make the difference this weekend.
The Baltimore Ravens received the best kind of news this week, and just in time for a crucial Week 16 matchup against the New England Patriots this weekend.
After missing Wednesday’s practice while dealing with an illness, quarterback Lamar Jackson returned as a full participant on Thursday, a strong indication the former MVP is trending toward playing in Sunday’s high-stakes matchup against the Pats.
Lamar Jackson returns to practice as Ravens’ playoff push intensifies
Baltimore is coming off one of its most complete performances of the season, a 24–0 shutout of the Cincinnati Bengals that kept the Ravens securely in the AFC playoff picture. Jackson was efficient and in control in that win, completing 8 of 12 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns while also adding his usual spark on the ground.
Jackson’s absence from practice earlier in the week, however, was concerning, particularly given what’s at stake in Week 16. But Thursday’s full practice participation suggests the illness is no longer a concern.
While the Ravens have not formally named Jackson their starter, all signs point to him being under center Sunday barring an unexpected setback.
At 7–7, Baltimore remains very much alive but sits on the outside looking in at the AFC playoff field. The Ravens enter the week ninth in the conference, chasing the Steelers in the AFC North and fighting multiple teams for wild-card positioning.
A win over the 11–3 Patriots, who are coming off a Week 15 loss, would be a massive boost, not just in the standings, but in tiebreaker scenarios as well. With three games remaining, every result now carries postseason weight. And the Ravens are a completely different team with Jackson on the field.
