Green Bay Packers’ Matt LaFleur has heated exchange with journlist following loss to Detroit Lions. What did he say?

The Packers coach was not so much angry about his team’s loss, but rather the way in which they did, and against a team that has cost them so much before.

Understandably upset following his team’s loss, the Packers coach didn’t take well to some of the questions he faced in the postgame press conference. On the other hand, he was also quite candid about what happened in the game i.e. the Packers got their butts kicked.

Matt LaFleur wasn’t happy after Green Bay Packers loss

On Thursday night, the Green Bay Packers took a tough loss to drop to a record of 2-2, while the team that handed them the defeat, the Detroit Lions rose to 3-1. Truth be told, despite the idea that the 34-20 scoreline would suggest that the game wasn’t one-sided, it actually was. That’s precisely why as early as half-time, when the Lions were leading 27-3, one could already see that head coach Matt LaFleur was beginning to lose his cool. To that end, it came as no surprise when he described his team’s performance as both “humbling” and “embarrassing.”

As you can imagine, LaFleur was no less frustrated after the game ended, and Green Bay Press-Gazette’s Pete Dougherty found that out the hard way when LaFleur responded to his question with more than a little venom. “We got our a– kicked,” LaFleur snapped. “If I knew, it wouldn’t have happened. That’s a BS question, man.”

So, what went wrong for the Green Bay Packers?

While it’s true that the Packers gave it a go in the third quarter, the reality is the Lions - as mentioned before - dominated the game in its entirety. With that said, it’s clear that LaFleur’s issue wasn’t so much a refusal to accept that his team was outplayed, but rather that it didn’t have enough fight, a point made more poignant by the idea that the Packers lost a spot in the playoffs last year when they were beaten by the Lions at Lambeau Field. “They came in and whooped us pretty good,” LaFleur added. “They manhandled us, really, in every phase.”
