Packers 14 vs 12 Buccaneers summary: stats & highlights | Rodgers vs Brady on NFL

The Green Bay Packers scored on the first two possessions of the game but needed a stop on last gasp two point conversion by Tampa Bay late in the 4th.

In a game that was headlined by two of the best quarterbacks of this generation, the defense was the difference maker as the Green Bay Packers took down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.

Rodgers vs. Brady for the last time?

Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady squared off for perhaps the last time ever on Sunday from Tampa, and while neither quarterback has started their season particularly well, fireworks were expected on Sunday afternoon.

The Bucs offense was suspect in the first two games, but their defense got the job done to get them to 2-0 coming into Week 3. It was more of the same for Tom Brady and the Bucs on Sunday who didn’t punch the ball into the end zone until their final drive.

Rodgers and the Packers came out of the gates firing, scoring on their first two drives of the game. The four time MVP started off the game a perfect 5/5 and finished off the opening drive of the game with a five yard pass to Romeo Doubs to put the Packers up 7-3.

Packers defense kept Brady quiet

Green Bay’s defense held the Bucs on the next possession, as they did almost all game long, and the Packers would stretch their lead to 14-3 with an Allen Lazard TD catch midway through the second quarter.

It looked like Rodgers and the Packers would add to their advantage right before halftime but an Aaron Jones fumble on the goal line helped keep the Bucs in the game going into the second half.

The Packers offense went stagnant coming out of the halftime break, but luckily for Green Bay the Bucs couldn’t get into the end zone either. Tampa got a field goal in the third quarter to bring the Pack to with in one possession.

Too little, too late for the Bucs

Tampa Bay wouldn’t score again until there were 14 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Brady hit Russell Gage on a one yard TD pass, but the two point conversion was unsuccessful and the Packers held on to win to improve to 2-1.

Rodgers went 27/35 for 255 yards and two touchdowns with an interception with most of those yards coming in the first half. Brady had 271 yards and a touchdown, for for the third straight week the Bucs showed that they still have a lot of work to do on the offensive side of the ball.

The Packers defense came up huge all day and on the biggest play of the game it was De'Vondre Campbell breaking up the pass on Tampa Bay's two point conversion try.

Gage got crushed but held on to the pass in the endzone of give the Bucs a chance late in the game.

The Bucs came up with a big turnover on the goal line and you got the sense that it was going to turn things around for Tampa Bay, but the offense wouldn't find the endzone until late it was too late.

Rodgers hit Lazard for the six yard slant pattern to put the Packers up 14-3 midway through the second quarter.

It would be the last time Green Bay would score, but the defense held stong in the second half.

The Packers started off the game on fire scoing on their first two drives, but their offense cooled off in the second half.


The Packers hold on after scoring on their first two drives of the day.

The two point conversioin is no good as Brady was looking for Gage in the endzone and it was broken up by the Packers.

TB is going to need a miracle now after the delay of game made it that much tougher to get the two point conversion.

The flag flies as Brady didn't get the snap off on time. Now the Bucs have to punch it in from the 7.


Gage Jr. makes the grab in the end zone after getting crushed as the ball came it. What a throw, and what a catch.

TB needs a 2 point conversions with 14 seconds left.

Brady looking for Brate in the endzone, but overshoots him and the Bucs have 3rd and Goal from the one.

18 seconds left in the fourht.

Fournette stopped short of the endzone on first down, and the Bucs will have it at the one yard line with 2nd and Goal with 21 seconds on the clock.

Brady looking for Brate at the two yard line, the pass was incomplete but the Packers are flagged for pass interference.

1st and Goal from the 3 with 26 seconds to go.

Brady hits Gage on 3rd and 6 for a gain of 8 yards and the Bucs have 1st and Goal from the 10 yard line.

Brady to Miller on a short gain and that does nothing but keep the clock running. 1:00 left in the fourth.

Brady hits Fournette for a 10 yard gain out of the backfield on 2nd and 10.

1st and 10 from the GB 22.

Brady to Brate out of the Two Minute Warning for 12 yards and the Bucs have 1st and 10 from the GB 32.

Brady saving the best for last with four straight completions to start the drive and get the Bucs into GB territory as we hit the Two Minute Warning.

1st and 10 from the GB 43.

TB take over from their 11 yard line with 3:06 to go in the fourth quarter.

Rodgers is sacked for an 8 yard gain and the Packers will be forced to punt with just over 3 mintes to go in the game.

Dillon gets stopped for no gain on 1st down, and then Rodgers throws down field but leaves the pass way ahead of Winfree on second down.

3rd and 10 coming up from midfield.

Rodgers goes deep to Lazard for a gain of 26. The Packers are at the Bucs 42 yard line and are inching closer to field goal position.

The Packers get the ball on their 14 yard line looking to run down the clock and perhaps put the finishing touch on this game with a field goal or touchdown.

The Bucs will punt the ball with 6 minutes left hoping to get the ball back.

The TB defense has been stopping the Packers all half long.

Tampa goes with a little trickery on a flea flicker which almost turned into a fumble. It was recoverd by Brate, but it created a 2nd and long that ended the drive.

Brady hits Darden on first down for a 25 yard gain.

1st and 10 from the 50 for the Bucs.

The Packers can't take advantage of the interception getting negated. Their drive comes to an end and the Bucs will have another chance to tie the game.

Rodgers throws a pick going deep down the field looking for Cobb, but Dean stepped in and came up with the interception, but the Bucs had too many men on the field and the play got waved off.

Dillon picks up 5 yards on the first down play, but a holding flag will bring the Packers back to the 12 yard line.

1st and 18 after the flag

Green Bay will start the drive from their 20 yard line with 11:18 to go in the game.

On 3rd and 7 Brady goes to Beasly on the slant route, but he gets stopped after 5 yards and the Bucs will have to punt.

Fournette gets dropped in the backfield for a short loss on first down from the TB 14

The Packers get stopped on another short drive in which they couldn't move the chains.

The Bucs will start their drive from the TB 14 yard line still searching for their first touchdown of the game.

Dillon picks up 2 yards on first down and then Tonyan makes the catch on the sideline and muscles his way up the field for and 6 yard gain to bring up 3rd and 2 from around midfield.


GB gets the ball back at the 44 yard line after the Bucs punt looking for their first points of the second half.

Since the fumble late in the first half the Packers have not been able to move the chains.

Brady's pass on 3rd and long is incomplete and the Bucs will be forced to punt from their 20 yard line.

Brady takes off and picks up a huge gain on 3rd and 3 after ducking under a sack in the backfield and took it up field for a 18 yards, but it's coming back after a holding call.

3rd and 13 coming up for the Bucs.

Tampa have the ball with a chance to tie up the game on this possession.

They will start from their 11 yard line.

The Bucs come up with another stop and force the Packers into another empty drive.

GB has just 36 yards in the second half after cruising down the field in the first half


Succop hits the 45 yard FG to bring the Bucs to within eight points with 6 miinutes to go in the third quarter.

Packers lead 14-6, but they have been struggling to move the ball in the second half.

Brady was looking for Perriman in the endzone, but left it behid his big tight end on 3rd and 9 and the Bucs will settle for a field goal.

Tampa Bay is at the GB 18 after the 19 yard gain.


Rodgers throws a pick!!! He was looking for Tonyan but Ryan stepped in an came up with the interception.

Tampa Bay will take over from the GB 47.


Brady throws three straight incomplete passes and the neither team is moving the chains to start the second half.

 A running into the kicker penalty will erase a great return from the Packers, and on the repunt Green Bay will take over from their 35.

The Packers go three and out, and the Bucs are lucky not to have been flagged for a roughing the passer on third down on the Rodgers pass.

The good news for Green Bay is they pin the Bucs back to the one yard line after a fantastic play by Nixon to down it right before the goal line.

He made an overhead catch on the punt, and kept his feet from going into the endzone.

Green Bay will get the ball at the 50 yard line with a chance to make it a three possession game.


Just when the Bucs looked like they were going to build a scoring drive they shoot themselves in the foot again.

Brady hit Gage for a five yard gain, but he had the ball jarred out of his hands.

Fournette picks up a first down with three quick runs and then get a free 15 yards on a pass interference.

1st and 10 from the TB 46.

Brady and the Bucs start from the TB 21.

They turned it on in the second half of the Saints game last week, can they come back on the Packers after stopping them on the opening drive.

The Packers go three and out for the first time today. They were on fire in the first half, but the offense cooled down to start the second half.


GB will start the half from the 25 yard line. They were moving down the field with ease in the first half, can it continue in the third quarter?

It could have been a lot uglier for the Bucs if the Packers didn't fumble on the goal line.

Brady is 13/14 for 110 yards, but the Bucs can't covert drives into TDs.

The fumble at the end of the half makes their job that much tougher in the final two quarters. 


Rodgers and the Packers were nearly perfect in the first half of the game.

The Packers QB1 is 15/18 for 170 yards and 2 TDs

GB will punt and the Bucs can kneel the ball and look for a second half comeback after the break.


Just when it seemed like Tampa Bay was on their way to scoring their first touchdown, Rodgers hit Perriman for 14 yards, but he was stripped of the ball and the Packers recover!

There are still 41 seconds left in the half, and the Packers can stretch their lead before half.

Brady is marching down the field with five completions in a row and the Bucs have the ball around the midfield.

1st and 10 from the 48.

If the Bucs end up winning this game, it will be because of this play. Big forced fumble at the goal line, and now the Bucs have a chance to cut into the lead.


 Jones caught it out of the backfield and was gang tackled by three Bucs defenders and had the ball jarred out of his hands.

TB recovers the ball in the endzone, and just like that the Bucs are back in this game.

Brady will have 2:02 to march down the field before halftime.

Dillon gets back to back hand offs and picks up 7 and 6 yards to move the chains.

1st and Goal for the Packers who have a chance to go up 18 points in the first half.

Rodgers with a quick strike over the middle for Cobb who busted it up the middle for 40 yards.

GB gets their best field position of the day starting from their 38 yard line.

The Bucs go three and out after a false start and Brady gets sacked on third down.

Tampa Bay's offense can not move the ball and Brady is starting to get visably frustrated.

Brady and the Bucs have not been a great first half team this year, but they need to come up with something on this drive with the way the Packers offense is playing.

Rodgers hits Lazard on the slant pattern for his second touchdown of the game!

GB's offense has been perfect today. Rodgers is 12/13 for 120 yards and 2 TDs already.

Rodgers with an improv shovel pass to Dillon for a gain of 7 yards to bring up 3rd and 1, and on the next play Rodgers finds Davis for a gain of 23.

GB is marching down the field again and Aaron Rodgers is starting to look like the Aaron Rodgeres of the last two years.

Rodgers keeps the drive going with a 7 yard strike to Lazard on 3rd and 7.

1st and 10 from the TB 38.

Dillon fell for 4 yards on 2nd down, and the Packers have to take their 3rd timeout of the first half.

GB's offense has looked good but they look a little unorganized. That's three timeouts they have had to use because the they weren't set in time.

Dillon moves the chains on 2nd and short with a three yard run.

GB is in TB territory with a 1st down at the TB 48.

Rodgers finds Doubs who is looking like he's starting to become a favorite for the GB No. 12.

2nd and 1 from the GB 49 after the nine yard gain.

Last restort from Rodgers finding Tunyon on the release out of the backfield and he  picks up the first down on 3rd and 8.

1st and 10 from the GB 40.

Dillon losses a yard on the first play of the second quarter.

3rd and 8 fromt he GB 38.

We are at the end of the first quarter and the Packers lead 7-3.

Neither QB has missed a pass in the first quarter Rodgers is 5/5 for 59 yards and a TD and Brady is 6/6 for 53 yards.

GB goes to Jones on first down, and he picks up 3 yards. If Jones can get going like he did last week that will open up things for Rodgers in the passing game.

2nd and 7 coming up for the Packers.


The Packers get a stop on 3rd and long and force the Bucs to punt.

Green Bay looked like a proper Aaron Rodgers offense on the first possession of the game. They will start thir second drive from their 29 after the punt.

On 2nd and 20 Brady hits Gage on an 8 yard gain to make 3rd down a little more reasonable.

3rd and 12 from the TB 21

Brady gets the ball back at the TB 23 and go with Fournette on first down but a holding call will take the Bucs back to the 13.

1st and 10 coming up.

Rodgers was 5/5 for 60 yards and a TD on Green Bay's first drive of the day.


Rodgers on the quick slant to Doubs for the second time this drive and Packers go 10 plays and 75 yards to take the lead on their opening drive of the day.

GB lead 7-3 with 3:01 to go.

Rodgers looking for Cobb in the flat on 3rd and 6 and he takes it up the sideline for a 17 yard pick up.

Can the Packers punch it in on their first possession?

In three plays the Packers are already on the TB 33. Jones broke a big run and then Doubs had a catch over the middle for 21 yards.


Here come the Packers on their opening drive of the day.

Succop drills the 45 yard field goal for the opening points of the game.

The Bucs have been struggling scoring touchdowns, and start today having to settle for a field goal.

The Packers get to Brady on 3rd and 5 and the Bucs drive will come to an abrupt end. They will bring out Succop for the field goal.

Brady hits Rudolph on the pass to the right sid and that goes for a gain of 12 yards on first down.

TB is rolling down the field. 1st and 10 from the GB 26.

The Bucs taking a chance early on, going for it on 4th down and Brady hits Beasly for a gain of four to move the chains on 4th and 1.

Fournette picks up 5 yards on first down and the the Bucs are already in Packers territory.

Brady going deep right off the bat, and that's a 24 yard gainer to get the Bucs to the 49 yard line.


The Bucs will get the ball first, starting their opening drive from their 25 yard line.

Brady and the Bucs have won the first two games of the season, but the offense is yet to impress. Brady has just 402 yards and two TDs with an interception.

Will this be the game both of these quarterbacks snap out of their early season funk?

Aaron Rodgers has won back to back MVPs, but this season has got off to a slow start. He has 429 yards, two touchdowns and an inteception coming into today's game.

The Bucs took care of business against the Saints last week, but for a second straight week Tom Brady’s offense failed to impress. It was an ugly first half in the Ceasars Superdome, but after a scoreless first half Tampa Bay woke up in the fourth quarter to beat the New Orleans Saints.
