As is customary every year, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. In 2023, Thanksgiving Day fell on the 23rd of the month. This is a long-standing holiday in the country, which entails various traditions such as family gatherings, a turkey dinner, and, for several years now, three NFL games. Since 1934, the Detroit Lions have hosted a game on Thanksgiving Day. In 1966, the Dallas Cowboys joined this initiative. Additionally, in 2006, the NFL added a third game during the day, getting other teams involved each year.

NFL Thanksgiving Day 2023: which teams played this year?

This year, the triple-header, as always, includee the Detroit Lions, the team that played the first Thanksgiving game in 1934 against the Chicago Bears, and in 2023, they kicked off the festivities against the Green Bay Packers. The second game featured the Dallas Cowboys destroying the Washington Commanders, while the football fun concluded with a matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers.

In addition to the longstanding tradition of NFL games on Thanksgiving Day, sports enthusiasts could also enjoy halftime performances that added to the overall entertainment experience.

Rapper Jack Harlow performed at the halftime show of the Detroit Lions game against the Green Bay Packers. The show didn’t go so well for Harlow, who faced a tough crowd in Motown, home of Eminem.

Country star Dolly Parton impressed football fans during the Dallas Cowboys versus Washington Commanders game, broadcast on CBS. The country singer still has it and entertained the crowd with some of her biggest hits.

And then for the later game, Steve Aoki performed during the Seattle Seahawks versus San Francisco 49ers clash at 8:20 p.m. ET, on NBC. It seems due to some technical difficulties only the fans in the stadium could enjoy the show as NBC showed commercials to fans watching on TV.
