Hopkins on his way to the Titans
The Arizona Cardinals’ wide receiver Deandre Hopkins is reportedly moving to the Tennessee Titans, says multiple American sports media outlets.
Deandre Hopkins is set to sign a $26 million, two-year contract with the NFL franchise from Nashville, including $6 million in bonuses. The deal is expected to be official next week. The 31-year-old catcher left the Cardinals in May after failing to agree on a trade. His lucrative contract with Arizona affected negotiations. Although he played only nine games, he averaged 7.1 catches and 79.7 yards, placing seventh in the league.
The Titans impressed Hopkins more than the Patriots did due to his close relationship with Nashville’s coaching staff, particularly head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Tim Kelly, whom he previously worked with in the Houston Texans.
In his first 10 NFL seasons, Hopkins recorded 11,298 receiving yards with 853 catches. However, he missed 15 games over the last two seasons due to a groin injury, a torn medial collateral ligament, and a suspension.
The addition of Hopkins will undoubtedly boost the Titans’ offense, providing Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and Traylon Burks with a much more potent weapon than anyone the team had last season. Last year, the Titans had the third-worst rushing offense in the league, averaging 98.8 rushing yards per game.
