The Dallas Cowboys have long been more than just a football team. As one which hasn’t won a title in nearly three decades and still manages to be the most valuable franchise in global sports, the Cowboys have excelled in marketing and business.

Owner Jerry Jones has created an empire, creating a franchise that embodies its nickname: America’s Team. To keep up with the times, it’s only fitting that the Cowboys would start to use Artificial Intelligence to help enhance their business model even further.

Utilizing AI and video to personalize Cowboys fan content

Cowboys chief information officer Matt Messick attended an AI workshop led by HPE to discuss how the team is utilizing HPE GreenLake, a hybrid cloud solution, and other advanced technologies to offer more personalized content for their fans. The Cowboys require advanced technology to run their medical imaging facilities, construction projects, and especially video date - used for scouting, analysis, and planning.

“Video is everything to coaches, players. That’s where you do your studying; you’re studying the opponent, picking your draft, your players,” Messick said. “When you have that much video…everything has to be fast. They want to know where their data is living and it’s protected underneath our umbrella in our private cloud.”

The use of AI and advanced analytics offer the Cowboys an opportunity to provide more customizable as well as engaging content to their fans both in the stadium and online.
