It’s been some time since the New York Giants and their fans had something to shout about but after a solid win against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, it may just be that times are changing in the Big Apple. One of the main reasons for that is the team’s rookie wide receiver: Malik Nabers.

Malik Nabers had a historic performance vs Browns

On Sunday night, the New York Giants put down the Cleveland Browns 21-15 to register their first win since the final week of last season. It was a disciplined performance from a team that has lacked structure in recent seasons and one that was largely brought to bear by the massive contribution from rookie receiver Malik Nabers who was a key cog in the offensive machine that night. Indeed, Nabers notched eight receptions on 12 targets and managed to score two touchdowns in the process.

Yet, Nabers’ performance goes deeper than that which is to say the 21-year-old’s numbers on the night were historic. To be more specific, Nabers became the first player in league history to record 20+ receptions, 250+ receiving yards, and three or more touchdown catches in their first three games according to NFL researcher Tony Holzman-Escareno.

Where the details of his season so far are concerned, the former LSU star has already got himself 23 receptions, 271 yards, and three touchdowns and is undoubtedly the No. 1 wideout in the Giants’ offense. Needless to say, that’s the kind of return on investment the franchise was expecting when it selected him with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Of course, as much as Nabers has been prolific since entering the league, mention must be made of quarterback Daniel Jones who has improved immensely since Week 1, evidenced by the fact that he’s now gone two consecutive games without an interception. With 37 targets where Nabers is concerned, it’s now clear that the pair are building a relationship, something they will be counting on when they face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4 on Thursday night.
