The Jacksonville Jaguars prevented the Dallas Cowboys from clinching a postseason berth on Sunday by beating them in overtime with a scoring interception.
Walking into TIAA Bank Field, the Dallas Cowboys and the Jacksonville Jaguars had one thing in common: Both organizations arrived with their eyes firmly on the postseason.
In a game that included a 17-point comeback, the Jaguars defeated the Dallas Cowboys 40-34.
The game went into overtime to define the winner as the Jaguars made a field goal on the last play.
The Boys were looking to clinch a playoff berth for the second straight year, something they haven’t done since 2007, but the Jaguars made it impossible on Sunday.
Jacksonville snapped the Boys’ four-game win streak and stay on track to reach a postseason spot.
Timely defense
When the Cowboys had the offense in overtime that could’ve given them the victory, quarterback Dak Prescott suffered his second interception of the game. However, this turned out to be more painful than the first, since it handed the victory to the Jaguars.
Rayhawn Jenkins grabbed a rebound from Prescott’s delivery to steal it for a 51-yard run for the game-winning score.
Come from behind
The Jaguars rallied from 17 points in the second half. Trevor Lawrence got his offense fueled starting in the third quarter and his defense held the Boys to 13 points.

The Jaguars offense was bogged down in the first half going only 84 yards. However, Lawrence had a different face in the second half as he threw for 253 yards.
Throughout the game, he delivered 318 yards and four touchdown passes.

Travis Etienne Jr. was an asset to the Jaguars’ offense, rushing for 103 yards to help Jacksonville hold the ball in pressing moments. He carried the ball 19 times.
