How is Cowboys rookie Sam Williams doing after his car accident?

As they prepare for their massive Christmas Day clash with the high-flying Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys were dealt some bad news on Thursday. Luckily, everything now seems to be OK for everybody involved.

Cowboys’ Sam Williams is ‘OK’ after car accident

According to reports on Thursday afternoon, Cowboys rookie Sam Williams was involved in a car accident in the suburbs of Dallas. As per Plano police, the vehicle in which the rookie defensive end was travelling, collided with another vehicle that was turning in front of him. Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured in the accident and Williams himself took to social media to reassure family, friends and fans alike. “I’m okay,” Williams tweeted “So is the other person that was involved.”

What do we know about Sam Williams’ accident

Though the cause of the accident remains under investigation by Plano police, they did indicate that neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to be a contributing factor in the unfortunate event. For his part, Williams was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, as it’s understood he did in fact suffer minor injuries, but there has been no official word as to what the extent of those injuries were. Incidentally, the Cowboys’ own medical team visited Williams as well and will conduct further evaluation on Friday. For the moment, the Cowboys’ official website says that the team remains optimistic that Williams will feature in Saturday’s clash against the division rival Philadelphia Eagles, but for the moment we can only wait on Friday’s official injury report to confirm.

Williams, who is now 23-years-old was selected by the Cowboys with the No. 56 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. An aggressive tackler, his impact has already been felt though he’s not been with the Cowboys long as is clearly evidenced by the 18 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and one pass deflection. As one can imagine, both Williams and the Cowboys will be hoping he can suit up on Christmas Day for what could be the defining game of their season.
