Bill Belichick, the legendary football figure whose name even the most oblivious of sports enthusiasts cannot escape. Stepping into the shoes of the Patriots head coach since the turn of the millennium, this eight-time Super Bowl champion coach is still as famished for triumph as a kid at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Belichick.

The Pats coach was born on April 16, 1952 in Nashville, Tennessee. For nearly half a century, he has been living and breathing the NFL, making football his one true love.

But where did Bill Belichick coached before joining the Patriots?

The tale of Belichick’s humble beginnings in the NFL. It was back in 1975, and the Baltimore Colts, in all their wisdom, decided to bring him on board as a special assistant. Little did they know, they were about to witness the birth of a coaching legend. After his brief stint in Baltimore, he was whisked away by the Detroit Lions. After a year of getting cozy with the tight ends and wide receivers, he found himself on the unemployment train just before the 1978 season.

Back in 1978, Belichick decided to join the Denver Broncos, where he dabbled in the arts of special teams and defense. He joined the Giants, where he managed to snag a couple of Super Bowl rings.

The Cleveland Browns couldn’t resist the allure of Bill Belichick’s coaching prowess, especially after witnessing his Super Bowl triumphs as the former Giants defensive coordinator. The Browns thought it would be a great idea to bring him on board as their head coach from 1991 to 1995.

It was in 2000, where Belichick’s life took a delightful plot twist and turned into his most epic chapter yet. The Patriots decided to go all-in on Belichick. They’ve not only made him the head coach, but also bestowed upon him the prestigious title of de facto general manager.

Naturally, what unfolded thereafter is the stuff of legends, as he and Tom Brady joined forces to create a quarterback-coach duo that would make other teams green with envy.
