The storyline prior to last year’s AFC Championship Game was experience vs jitters. Well, not this year. In a repeat performance, the Kansas City Chiefs will be hosting the Cincinnati Bengals in the decider for who represents the conference in the Super Bowl.

Last season, there were doubts that a quarterback like Joe Burrow, making his first appearance in a high-stakes game, could withstand the noise of the Arrowhead crowd, or steel the nerves to make big plays when it counted. A year on, and those questions have been well and truly answered.

Showing that he is no flash in the pan, Burrow has led the Bengals on a run this season that is every bit as thrilling as last year’s Super Bowl trip. And yet again, that run has led him here, to Arrowhead stadium and a face-off with one of the few quarterbacks in the NFL who can know intimately the journey that he is on.

Patrick Mahomes is the NFL’s wunderkind. He entered the NFL just three years before Burrow and similarly made it to the Super Bowl in his third season, the major difference being that the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV.

Both of these quarterbacks have taken the league by storm, and both have been handsomely rewarded for it.

Joe Burrow’s net worth

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the 26-year-old is worth $10 million. This is based on his four-year, $36.19 million contract after being the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

In addition to his Bengals salary, Burrow has also penned sponsorship deals with brands such as Bose, Nerf, Fanatics and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Burrow’s base salary for this season is $2,255,006 and during his football career, he’s earned approximately $26 million thanks to his signing bonus. His net worth is roughly $10 million, and Burrow has openly claimed that his plan is is to only live off his endorsement money, saving his on-field earnings for retirement.

Patrick Mahomes’ net worth

When Mahomes was drafted he started with a standard four-year deal. After winning the Super Bowl, he signed a new contract, reported to be worth $450 million over 10 years. At that time, the all-time top earner in the NFL was Drew Brees, who had made $245 million total in his entire career.

Mahomes’ contract was eventually revealed to be worth a total of $503 million if he makes it all the way to the end. The Chiefs also clarified that his contract includes $477 million in “guaranteed mechanisms” and $140 million which is fully guaranteed against injury, making Patrick Mahomes the first half billion dollar athlete in sports history.
