One of the most recognisable faces in the NFL is Detroit Lions head coach, Dan Campbell. Born Daniel Allen Campbell in Clifton, Texas on April 13, 1976, the 47-year-old began on his path to professional football in 2010 at the Miami Dolphins as a coaching intern. He has also served as the tight ends coach for the New Orleans Saints from 2016 to 2020.

On Sunday, the 2024 NFC Championship Game will feature teams with distinct postseason backgrounds, competing for a chance to advance to Super Bowl 58. The Detroit Lions will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, aiming for their inaugural Super Bowl appearance.

Did Dan Campbell play professional football?

It was back in 1999 when ‘Motor City Dan Campbell’ made his first appearance as a pro footballer, after being drafted by the New York Giants; he made his debut in the NFL against Arizona Cardinals. Campbell passed through teams such as Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints before retiring in 2011.

What is Dan Campbell’s salary? How much does he earn?

Dan Campbell’s contract with the Lions means he earns around $4 million a year to coach the side, and he signed a new, six-year deal with the team back in 2021. Curiously, before joining the Detroit Lions, Campbell had signed with the New Orleans Saints where he was both assistant head coach and tight end coach, but his annual salary with the Saints was less just half of what he earns now, around $1.5 million. He is currently one of the highest earners in the league and given his success, that figure is only set to rise.

Campbell is not only a great coach but he is also a star in his own right, and has done advertisement work for brands such as Dr Pepper and Pepsi, bringing his net worth up to around $3.5 million, once one takes into account his accumulated wages as a player and fees earned for various football analysis gigs on American television.
