Love joins highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL
With an average of $55 million per season, Love is one of the highest-paid quarterbacks, matching the annual average of Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars. No QB currently earns more.
Additionally, the deal between Love and Green Bay includes a $75 million signing bonus. According to ESPN, the quarterback received $160.3 million guaranteed in the $220 million contract extension he signed with Green Bay back in July 2024.
Why did Love get a huge contract extension?
This contract is unusual as Love secured it after his first year as a starter in the NFL. The Utah State alumnus generated 4,159 yards with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions after starting all 17 games for Green Bay in 2023.
His record was 9-8, and he managed to lead the Packers to the postseason. Love led the victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round but then ended up losing to Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.
