Jordan Love will return to training with the Green Bay Packers starting next week as his contract situation has been resolved. Agents David Mulugheta and Andrew Kessler confirmed to NFL Network that Love has accepted a four-year contract extension worth $220 million.

Love joins highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL

With an average of $55 million per season, Love will become the highest-paid quarterback, matching the annual average of Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars. No QB currently earns more.

Additionally, the deal between Love and Green Bay includes a $75 million signing bonus. According to ESPN, the quarterback will receive $155 million guaranteed.

Why is Love getting huge contract extension?

This contract is unusual as Love secured it after his first year as a starter in the NFL. The Utah State alumnus generated 4,159 yards with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions after starting all 17 games for Green Bay in 2023.

His record was 9-8, and he managed to lead the Packers to the postseason. Love led the victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round but was taken out by Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.

When was Jordan Love drafted?

After being drafted in the first round of the 2020 Draft with the 26th overall pick, Love signed a four-year, $12.38 million contract as a rookie.

The franchise handed him the reins of the offense after three years as Aaron Rodgers’ backup. Consequently, the quarterback renegotiated his contract, signing a deal worth $13.5 million, with an increase to $22.5 million if certain incentives were met.
