Inside the burglary that shook Joe Burrow’s 2024 season
Back in December, Bengals QB Joe Burrow’s home was burglarized, and in Netflix’s second season of “Quarterback”, he opens up about the toll that took.

Netflix recently released its second season of the docuseries “Quarterback” and one of the NFL quarterbacks featured on this season was Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow. It’s somewhat surprising that Burrow agreed to be on the show as he’s typically a very private person.
And that’s exactly why, when his home was burglarized in December 2024, it was more than just a home invasion - it was a serious invasion of his privacy, too.
Burrow breaks silence on home invasion: “It felt like the kind of year it was”
Burrow was already having a rough year in 2024, but it was capped off with a serious home robbery. It happened while he was on the road playing against the Dallas Cowboys for Monday Night Football. The incident, featured in season two of Netflix’s “Quarterback” docuseries, left a lasting impact on Burrow, both emotionally and financially.
Four Chilean nationals, allegedly part of a South American theft ring, were arrested in connection to the break-in. They reportedly stole jewelry and accessories - some of which were later found in their possession - but Burrow emphasized that the emotional toll of the invasion was far worse than the loss of valuables.
“Of f***ing course this happened to me right now,” Burrow said. “When you’re on cloud nine, something’s gonna bring you right back down. It just felt like the kind of year that it was.”
“They got all my jewelry… but they could have stolen way worse things than that,” he said. “I’m not going crazy about some jewelry. It was expensive, but… it was all insured.”
In the series, Burrow spoke about feeling exposed and vulnerable, noting that the experience led him to delay a significant purchase - the Batmobile - as he reassessed his priorities. He said he’d considered moving now that “the whole world knows where I live”. He also expressed frustration over the added media attention and the invasion of his personal life, including increased scrutiny of his relationship with Olivia Ponton.

“I just get uncomfortable when, you know, my life is very public… and, you know, it comes with the job, but… there’s certain parts of your life that are, like… yours. Your house is one of those."
“When that gets violated, people find out where you live, all these different things,” he went on. “Not everybody’s failures at their job are in front of the whole world. It’s a very vulnerable position to be in. I put myself in that position because I love it. I don’t like the other part of it.”
