Is Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce starting a career in Hollywood?

He’s good-looking, talented, and if we’re honest somewhat funny. It would be hard to deny the way in which Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has carved out a space in the hearts of many across the nation in the last few months. From his moderately alcohol-infused escapades to his rough-around-the-edges persona, there’s something quite likable about the guy who just helped his team to a second straight Super Bowl title.

Does Travis Kelce have a future in film?

Now, aside from the impressive résumé that we mentioned above, there is one other reason that Travis Kelce has been a focal point of late, and that’s the fact that he happens to be dating one of the most famous artists on the planet right now, pop sensation Taylor Swift. Quite frankly, since news of their relationship broke back in September 2023, there is little else that’s occupied NFL and entertainment news headlines. Yet, now it seems that Kelce may be interested in expanding his portfolio in a rather interesting way.

According to reports, Kelce and his team are currently “considering movie roles, developing unscripted shows for the star, exploring comedy opportunities, and pursuing product endorsements.” It doesn’t stop there either, as it’s understood that there are in fact two projects that are already in the works: an independent film entitled ‘My Dead Friend Zoe’, and a Jean-Michel Basquiat documentary by the name of ‘King Pleasure.’ Believe it or not, both films are set to be produced by Kelce himself. But wait, there’s more. It’s also understood that a number of notable filmmakers were meeting with Kelce throughout this most recent NFL season. Why? To discuss a reality TV show that would see the star tight end both producing and starring.

Perhaps Travis Kelce needs to be careful

Now, there is no doubt that Travis Kelce is a household name when it comes to NFL fans, however, prior to this season, it’s quite unlikely that many beyond the borders of the United States were aware of who he is. This is to say that when it comes down to it, Kelce’s new relationship with Swift put him in the spotlight in a way he’s never been before. Indeed, both he and his brother Jason Kelce with whom he hosts the “New Heights” podcast attested to the intensity of attention surrounding Swift, and whether the NFL was “overdoing it.”

On the other hand, one can’t deny it’s been good for business. From his instantaneous jump in Instagram followers to significantly increased jersey sales, one could easily argue that the ‘Kelce brand’ benefitted in a big way. So, what’s the problem? To hear Ryan Schinman, CEO of Mayflower Entertainment tell it, the problem lies in what could be rather than what is. “I do worry about one thing, the break-up,” Schinman said. “God forbid they break up. How they break up could be devastating to his branding career. Because she is the most loved superstar and has the most rabid fans in the world - when she feels wronged, the whole world feels wronged. ...If it doesn’t work out, Travis had better strategically plan what his messaging is.” For the moment all is well in Swifty-land and where Swift herself is concerned, she’s currently in Sydney, Australia for the latest leg of her ‘Eras Tour.’

As for Kelce, we can’t say, but rumor has it that he’ll be joining the lady in his life ‘Down Under’ soon enough. Conversely, what we can say is that he appears to be aware of the gorilla in the room, evidenced by his comments earlier this month. “Hopefully, everybody realizes that we’re two people in a relationship supporting each other and having fun with it,” he said. “It’s nothing more than that. As much as the world wants to paint the picture and make us the enemy, we just have fun with it, and we enjoy every single bit of it. I love it when Taylor comes and supports me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends. It’s been nothing but just a wonderful year.”
