Update:

Coming off a breakout 2024 season that ended in an NFC Championship appearance, the Washington Commanders now find themselves in the middle of a contract standoff with star wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

Though present at training camp, McLaurin has yet to participate in practices and has formally requested a trade. The 29-year-old is reportedly seeking a deal comparable to DK Metcalf’s $132 million contract, but his age may be giving Washington pause.

Despite the stalemate, Commanders’ second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels publicly expressed confidence that McLaurin will return soon.

“I know one day 17 will be running out here, and hopefully soon,” said Daniels.

“But I can’t control what he has going on with his business. I’ve got to go out there, be the best version of myself every day, and hope that it all gets resolved so 17 can get back out here catching passes.”

McLaurin remains one of the NFL’s most consistent receivers, posting 1,000+ yards in four of his five seasons, all while catching passes from 13 different starting quarterbacks.

Whether Washington pays up or moves on, the situation is becoming one of the most pivotal storylines of the Commanders’ offseason.
