Update:

The Commanders head to Lambeau Field on Thursday for a primetime showdown with the Green Bay Packers, and all eyes are on the team’s dynamic offensive duo: quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

TNF: Washington’s offensive firepower takes center stage against Packers

Daniels is entering Week 2 coming off a solid but somewhat erratic Week 1 showing against the New York Giants. The dual-threat quarterback completed 19-of-30 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown, adding 68 rushing yards on 11 carries. He was a surprise addition to Monday’s injury report, listed with a wrist issue on his throwing hand. He’s been a full participant in practice since, but for a quarterback who leans on both his passing and rushing ability, even minor discomfort could shift Washington’s offensive rhythm.

That puts extra weight on Samuel, who looked like the ultimate safety net in the opener. Samuel caught seven passes for 77 yards, ripped off a 19-yard touchdown run, and even chipped in on kick returns. The Commanders clearly plan to unleash him in every role imaginable, and against a Packers defense that struggled with slot coverage in Week 1, Samuel could be the difference-maker.

Green Bay, meanwhile, is excited about edge rusher Micah Parsons’ debut impact last Sunday, but the Commanders’ offense tests more than just individual defenders. The matchup will put Jordan Love’s offense to the test as well, but much of the spotlight will be on Daniels and Samuel’s ability to force Green Bay into high-pressure situations.

For Washington, Thursday represents an opportunity to showcase their explosive offense on a national stage, and if Daniels can shake off any lingering wrist concerns, the Packers defense may be in for a long night.
