This Wednesday, an interview with Jerry Jones was shared on the Dallas Cowboys’ official Instagram profile. The AT&T Stadium franchise owner acknowledged his wish to visit Mexico soon, stressing the significance of the Spanish-speaking fan base.

Jones looks to Mexican fans

Jones said: “The most important thing is to have our fans there in Mexico supporting the team. But even more important is that, when we go there and have that support, it brings us even closer to all our Hispanic fans in the United States. That’s the biggest part.”

He went on: “We want to show all our fans here in this country what Hispanic fans mean to the Dallas Cowboys. When are we going to Mexico? That’s not just a great question. When Estadio Azteca is ready, you’ll see the Cowboys.”

Right now, the famed Coloso de Santa Úrsula is being renovated for the 2026 North American World Cup, which has kept the NFL from playing in Mexico. The stadium is expected to be ready in the first months of next year, with reports suggesting the Mexican national team could host Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in March for its reopening. From there, and once the summer World Cup is over, the NFL’s return to Mexico appears likely.

Cowboys prepare for the Bears

The Cowboys have opened the NFL season with a narrow loss to the Philadelphia Eagles (20-24) and a thrilling win against the New York Giants (37-40). In Week 3 they face the Chicago Bears, who are still searching for their first victory after losses to the Minnesota Vikings (27-24) and Detroit Lions (21-52).

Dallas and Chicago will meet this Sunday, September 21, at Soldier Field – another chance for the Cowboys’ Hispanic fans to rally behind the team as they chase a second win of the season.
